We exhibited again at Culture on the Common in 2018. We have been there every year since the event began and we are becoming a 'part of the furniture' so to speak. It is a lovely event which we all enjoy and I hope we will be there for many years to come.
Culture on the Common
On Sunday 21st August 2016 we once again exhibited our work at the Culture on the Common event in Hartley Wintney. This has now become an annual event which we have attended for the last four years. There are lots of very talented exhibitors at this event plus teas and gentle music. It is a lovely afternoon which everyone enjoys. The event is held in a marquee on the cricket green, outside The Cricketers pub. Check out our Gallery page for some photos from previous years.

Starting in September 2015 Log Cabin held our very first beginners' class which ran for 6 sessions. It was run by one of our members, Jenny, and we had 7 very enthusiastic ladies who, by the end of the course had produced a beautiful table runner in time for Christmas. Some of their finished articles are on our Gallery page.

Sew a Quilt day continued - 12th Feb 2015
Following on from our whole day get together in November members have now completed more than 12 blocks for our group quilt. And so it was time to put it together. Again with fabric donated by a member - you can easily tell that we all have far too much fabric in our stash - a layout was suggested for the quilt. This has yet to be finalised as there are still unfinished blocks. To get an idea of how good the quilt is looking go to our Gallery page and scroll down. Alternatively you can click here.

Sew a Quilt Day - 13 Nov 2014
This is a new event for us. The idea is to make a quilt in a day by all members of the group getting together to work on the same quilt. The quilt is then offered to a charity for a raffle prize or perhaps raffled at our next exhibition. It promised to be a fun day in the middle of what can be a dark and dreary month and it was just that. It was indeed a dark and dreary day but we certainly had fun. One of our members invited us to her house and had set up machines, irons cutting boards etc. Other members brought along a collection of Liberty fabrics and a length of calico and we set to work. The aim was for each member to produce at least one 10in block using the fabrics in whatever design they liked. So there was much measuring, pressing, cutting, machining and hand stitching. Some members completed one block and moved on to start a second but it was just such a relaxed and easy day. And of course the lunch helped. This was brought by each member and was delicious. Thanks must go to the ladies who helped organise the day, to Jane, Pepita and Margaret and hopefully we will do it again. In case you are wondering, the quilt was not finished on the day but is well on the way and it will be interesting putting it together. Maybe an excuse for another Sew a Quilt Day!!

Summer Outing - 28 Aug 2014
Each summer the group has an outing. This year we visited Creative Quilting - the patchwork and quilting shop at East Molesey, just across the bridge from Hampton Court Palace. Those who have visited it before will know that they stock a wide range of fabrics, books and sewing notions and always have something new in stock. It is certain that we all came away having spent too much money but possibly with a new project in mind. We had lunch in a pub just opposite the shop but there were many pubs, restaurants and coffee shops to choose from. The road also offers several small 'boutique' type shops and antique emporiums which we browsed before returning to Hartley Wintney. All we need now is the time to put together all the projects planned so enthusiastically in the shop! Here is the Creative Quilting website link if you would like to have a look. Simply click on the website address. - http://www.creativequilting.co.uk
